All-Natural Skin Care Trends

All-Natural Skin Care Trends

Trends come and go every year, if not every month. Whether it’s fashion, food, or skin care, however, it all seems to be going in the same direction. Many people like eating food that doesn’t contain GMO’s or that has been sprayed with pesticides. Vegan clothing and cruelty-free products are becoming more and more popular by the minute, and skin care is no different.

If you care about what you eat, it’s probably best to know what you put on your skin daily as well. Many products have harmful ingredients that actually age and damage the skin but is advertised to make you look younger. That’s why many women and men are turning to all-natural products that don’t contain harmful additives. If you are just jumping on the all-natural train, or have been on it for a while, here are some great skin care trends to add to your daily routine.

Coconut Oil

If you don’t own any natural skin care products, we highly suggest going to your local grocery store and picking up some coconut oil. This is a holy grail product. You can use it in a multitude of ways such as an all-natural hair mask, makeup remover, and even cooking oil. There aren’t any extra ingredients needed. For the hair mask, just take a couple tablespoons of coconut oil and massage it into your hair, particularly at the roots. Leave it in for 30 minutes and rinse. When you want to take off your makeup at night, skip those fancy and expensive makeup removers and makeup remover wipes. Just take a little coconut oil and massage it into your skin. Then, wipe your face with a damp, warm towel and your makeup will practically melt away. No harsh rubbing required.

The use of charcoal has been around for decades but has recently become huge in the beauty community. Charcoal masks and charcoal toothpaste became viral nearly overnight. And the best part is, it works. Activated charcoal contains toxic-absorbing properties and has a wide range of medicinal and cosmetic uses. You can make a DIY charcoal mask with only 3 ingredients, all natural of course. All you need is 1 tsp bentonite clay, 1 tsp activated charcoal powder, and 2 tsp water. Charcoal just on its own is very fine and dry, so adding the bentonite clay will help create a creamy consistency that is easy to apply and won’t dry up in a few minutes and fall right off your face. After you apply the mask, let it dry (about 10 minutes) and wash it off with warm water using a washcloth.

Essential Oils

Another natural product for any health nut is the use of essential oils. There are hundreds of oils to choose from and possibly over a hundred different ways you can use them. You can make your own cleaning products with citrus oils or freshen up any room with a diffuser and a few drops of an oil of your choosing. Do you want to get rid of headaches naturally, have an easier time falling asleep, or get focused? There’s an essential oil for that. However, this year, using essential oils as part of a regular skin care routine has been more prominent than ever. For example, you can use carrot seed essential oils to help fade scars and improve the tone of aging skin, or frankincense oil for blemishes and acne-prone skin. All you need is a few drops, so while the oils can be expensive, they last a really long time.

Plant-based Products

While many popular skin care products are not the best for your skin, there are brands out there that stay true to the all-natural lifestyle. Some of these organic and vegan brands include Pai, United and Free, Organic Nation, Edible Beauty, and Seascape to name a few. Products like these have become more popular than ever as the global health community continues to grow with it. These products usually contain a complete list of ingredients on the back of their labels, and they are usually not very extensive. Now, these products may be pricier than the drugstore items, but they will prove to be worth it in the long run. If you take care of your skin, it will take care of you.

While there are more skin care trends to consider in 2018, these few have certainly made a lasting impression on the beauty community throughout the year, and for many years to come. They are organic, plant-based, vegan, and to put it simply - natural. The skin is the human’s largest organ, and many people tend to forget just how important it is to take care of it and treat it right on a daily basis. You should be able to feel great in your own skin! All it takes is a little research for a lifetime of wonderful results. So, if you haven’t tried a charcoal mask or don’t use any essential oils, today is a perfect day to start. Treat yourself to a spa day and grab a comfortable robe, homemade charcoal mask, and a quiet space. Get on the healthy living path and support brands that don’t affiliate with animal cruelty or false advertising. You can decide what goes into your body as long as you make the right decisions. We hope our tips helped you and inspired you to be all-natural!
